The Tijuana Estuary - located in Imperial Beach, CA - is one of the most extraordinary locales in all of southern California. The pylons in the middle of the image, believe it or not, were used in the old days to hold a large water pipe that dumped excess water into the Estuary. Today, the estuary is federally and state protected and is home to countless birds and other wildlife. On a clear day, it is possible to see Mexico, the Los Coronados Islands, Mount Miguel, and of course Imperial Beach.
