Sculptor John Banks installed this extraordinary piece that sits at the end of Imperial Beach Blvd. “Banner Art,” as it’s officially called, was erected in 2006 and can only be read from this particular vantage point; to stand anywhere else is to simply see three squiggles sticking up in the air. This is a lucky shot - there is ALWAYS someone there or a car parked in the lot in front of this piece, but on this particular morning nary a soul was in sight.
