The infrequent opportunity to photograph the sun as it sets (nearly) due West presents itself in this image of the Imperial Beach Pier during a negative low tide. Mussels, mollusks, and broken fishing line are easily visible at the bottoms of the legs of the pier, which are normally below water. Autumn is the time of year where San Diego skies become even more luminescent and clear than usual. “Cool Breeze,” shot in mid-September, is a prime example of just how clear and beautiful Southern California becomes during the winter months.
