Center of the Universe
Center of the Universe
Each day, the rising and setting points of the sun change slightly. At the summer solstice, the Sun rises as far to the northeast as it ever does, and sets as far to the northwest. Every day after that, the Sun rises a tiny bit further south. At the fall equinox, the Sun rises due east and sets due west. “Center of the Universe” was shot on such a day - September 11, 2015. The Imperial Beach Pier is a somewhat chaotic-looking structure, as the builders placed the legs of the pier where the ocean floor demanded …they didn’t adhere to symmetry for symmetry’s sake. As such, it is a photographer’s delight, as it is impossible to get the same shot twice.
